Dear Friends of Resilient Ready,
October 13 is International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, a day set aside by the United Nations to raise the profile of disaster risk reduction and encourage people and governments to work towards building more resilient communities.
This year's theme is 'Early Warning and Early Action for All' with a focus on increasing the availability of and access to multi-hazard early warning systems and disaster risk information and assessments to people by 2030.
Early warning saves lives. An early warning by 24 hours can cut the ensuing damage by 30 per cent. And with climate change causing more frequent, extreme, and unpredictable climate-related hazards - and a third La Niña underway in Australia - making an investment in early warning systems is more urgent than ever before.
With more disasters impacting our communities, there is an increasing expectation on corporate disaster giving. With a focus on disasters in October, it's also a great time of year to review your organisation's disaster-giving strategy.
We can help, why not get in touch?
The Resilient Ready Team.
