Dorinda is a mother, a registered nursing sister, an optician, an author, an actor, a public speaker, and a humanitarian who has worked tirelessly over the years with various Australian charities and instigated a charity called Australian Sponsorship for African Kids.

Emerging researchers

You might notice a special designation in the program this year – emerging researchers.

The Program Committee has highlighted these up and comers as the ones to watch in international education research.

Offering fresh perspectives, diversity of thought, and inspiration for our sector, their research enriches our sector’s thinking and stimulates discussion and new ideas.

'Think Sustainability' Guide for AIEC

We are working on making AIEC a more environmentally friendly event by embracing our responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint and recognising the need to make smarter choices for our planet and the generations to come.

This year we have developed the Think Sustainability Guide, which identifies seven attainable targets tailored to promote sustainability at AIEC.

  1. Reduce our carbon footprint by decreasing carbon emissions.
  2. Strive for a zero-plastic conference by committing to eliminating plastic resources and using recycled products.
  3. Minimise our contribution to landfill in all areas of waste
  4. Increase sustainability education and awareness for the whole conference community before, during and after the event.
  5. Implement sustainable food management practices during and after the event.
  6. Foster inclusivity and celebrate diversity.
  7. Prioritise local, ethical and sustainable suppliers.

We have a long way to go to make our event fully sustainable and carbon-neutral, but we are committed to promoting sustainability education and raising awareness among our conference community.

Click through to find out what steps we are taking towards improving sustainability at the conference, as well as what we’re asking our venues, suppliers, sponsors, and exhibitors to do. Plus – what can you do as a delegate?

Get inspired with Inspire presentations

These 14-minute content-heavy and fast-paced presentations are designed to give you an insight into findings from a research project, discover best/innovative practices and case studies and provide expert advice or commentary on a particular issue or challenge.

Inspire presentations are grouped into sessions by topics or key interest areas and delegates can choose to attend the whole session, or just one presentation at a time.

Want to learn more? Have some questions? Meet with Inspire speakers after the session in the Inspire Lounge adjacent to the session room.

C'mon get happy at the AIEC Happy Hour

After wrapping up a very rewarding first conference day, enjoy a drink on us! The Happy Hour is a popular and well-deserved time to relax in a casual environment, catching up with friends and colleagues.

We’ve partnered with multiple venues on Leigh and Peel Streets not far from the Adelaide Convention Centre. The Happy Hour is sponsored by IELTS.

Countdown to AIEC - only 26 days to go!
