eNews Update - May 2024

Dear Friends of Resilient Ready,

This month we welcome Professor Daniel Aldrich back to Australian shores to work with us on a ground-breaking thought leadership snapshot project, among other things. We're really excited about this project, and the chance to work closely with Daniel again - more on that below.

We also thought it was worth resharing one of our earlier podcast chats with Daniel below, as social capital (and social infrastructure) continue to be a key focus for Resilient Ready and are central to this visit.

Recently Resilient Ready Program Coordinator Bekah Baynard-Smith delivered one of our ‘What if…? Wednesday’ workshops with businesses and emergency service volunteers in Glen Eira, Victoria.

Everything from insurance and cyber security to social capital and revenue streams was on the table. It was a great opportunity to share ideas, network and build resilience as a community. Thank you Glen Eira City Council for having us! If you’re interested in a similar, one-off workshop with us, get in touch today.

Next month, Resilient Ready Founder Renae Hanvin will be running a Masterclass at the EMPA Conference in Canberra with Johanna Garnett from the South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM). Professor Daniel Aldrich will attend online to talk about social capital and social infrastructure in action, and how libraries and pubs can help us better connect and communicate.

Are you sensing a theme? At Resilient Ready we are all about connecting, communicating and collaborating to build more resilient communities. Find out how we can help your organisation or community. Drop us a line.

Why you should plan for the unknown

Thinking or planning clearly can be difficult when you’re in the middle of a chain reaction. Even governments struggled to manage the far-reaching impacts of Covid-19 on workplaces, transport, and basic goods and services. This is why you need to map out risks to your organisation today, not tomorrow.
